The Mongol Rally is a charity event that raises money for charity, one with the slightly ridiculous name 'Send a Cow' (Mongolia), the other is CNCF. Each team must raise a minimum of £1000.
The Mongol Rally is a 10,000 mile dash across a quarter of the earths surface, that includes 2 deserts, 5 mountain ranges, roads ranging from bad to non-existant in cars that most people consider underpowered for doing the shopping. We have no entourage of support vehicles, there is no carefully marked course, there are no professional drivers, fast cars or even good cars.
The route will include central Asia's finest mountains; the central Tian Shan mountain range in Kyrgyzstan. The mountains here are geologically young, resulting in physical terrain marked by sharply uplifted peaks separated by deep valleys - just one of the hot spots of the Rally!
Leaving London on July 22nd, the aim is to arrive in Ulaan Bataar as soon as possible.
